As technology is getting smarter, so are the homes. Including ‘app’ friendly technology that allows you to turn on that gas heater and deactivate the alarm before you arrive back home. Most buyers prefer high-tech rooms with wiring for surround sound to accommodate the most up-to-date A/V equipment
Today, the walk-in closet is a must-have on many buyers’ wish list and prefer to downsize from a four bedroom to a three bedroom to enlarge the master suite to include an oversized his and hers walk-in closet.
Most homes I visit have a home office already set up with shelving and cabinetry already built in. If you don’t have a home office set up and if the home consists of four or more bedrooms, I would suggest you consider having a designated place for an office. I would hesitate putting in permanent shelving — you want to have temporary fittings there so that this room can be reverted back to a bedroom.
As you can see from the graph above, 94% of home buyers questioned in this survey want energy-star rated appliances, 91% want an energy-star rating for the whole home and 89% want energy-star rated windows.
This preference is one that will always remain high regardless of the era. Most people want ease of living and that is convenience to the shops, bus route/train station. If the buyer has children, they will be looking for the schools in zone and nearest play center.
